Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition - Windows 98 SE, 2000 or Millennium Edition (Me) and XP FireWire drivers are pre-loaded and you will be able to plug and play all Firewire Depot products. If you updated from Windows 98, you may need the update CD to install the drivers from. The Windows OS will prompt you if it requires the CD. See the following page:
WINDOWS 98 SE 1394 UPDATE - Latest 1394 Storage Device Update for Windows 98SE devices. This is a required update for all users with Win98SE machines to insure proper functionality 1394 Firewire Card & update 1394 OHCI drivers.
The update installs a Safe Removal utility that allows you to safely stop a Plug and Play storage device prior to physically unplugging the device. This component also includes an update for 1394 drivers to resolve issues related to the surprise removal of peripheral devices. Large performance improvements, in the order of 300%, have been made over the implementation of 1394 storage drivers in Windows 98 Second Edition.
