Returns and RMAs

Returns and Replacement:

Every attempt is made to have a "common sense" return policy but we must apply certain restrictions and conditions to each and every order and transaction. We do not offer an "I dont like it" return policy, so if you have any questions about a product, please ask them by sending an email to newsales@fwdepot.com and make certain you get all your questions answered before making your purchase. We will provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision and choice for your product requirements.

Please note: Special Order items are not eligible for return. Repair service or store credit may be issued only. All sales are considered final.

Once an item has been shipped and accepted by the customer, the sale is final and complete. If you later contact us and say something like I meant to order something else, we will arrange an exchange or a credit, but you will not receive a refund on the item.

  • FireWire Depot may or may not issue an RMA for the return of merchandise. It is up to the judgment of FireWire Depot in each individual case regarding a request for Refund.

    We here at FireWire Depot want you to be happy with your purchase and use of your product purchases. If your product is defective, FireWire Depot will provide technical support (via email to support@fwdepot.com ), replacement or repair when necessary for products found to be defective.

  • Before any returns will be accepted, you must contact us at newsales@fwdepot.com , to request a Return Authorization Number. Please include your order number and the reason you are requesting an RMA.

    If you return an item without proper authorization, you will be charged a 50% restocking fee (minimal) regardless of whether the item is damaged or not

    Returns Must Meet ALL Applicable Criteria - Returns can only be issued within the first 15 days of purchase. After 15 days, only store credits will be given.

    How to request a return - Return Procedure

    For faster service, please have the following information on hand when requesting an RMA number: customer name, invoice/order number, Item number, and the nature of the problem. Technical support should be notified ( support@fwdepot.com ) if you are experiencing a technical problem with your product. All returns must include the following:

    All items being returned must be 100% complete and must be in their original packaging. All manuals, disks, blank warranty cards and all other materials that came with the item must be included in the original packaging, as provided by the manufacturer. A return may be rejected or subject to a restocking or replacement fee if any any items include in the original shipment are missing from the returned package. Items returned that are damaged, altered, or improperly packaged will be rejected and/or charged for any/all missing or damaged items. It is strongly recommended that you insured any return shipments. FireWire Depot is not responsible for any damage caused during shipment.

    • Original packaging (manufacturers box, packing foam, plastic bags, etc.)
    • Original UPC barcode intact. Do not cut out the UPC code (for rebates) until you have examined and tested the product to your satisfaction. Removal of the UPC code voids any possibility of return regardless of RMA or credit request status.
    • Valid Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).
    • Original packing slip or other included documentation.
    • All accessories (transformers, batteries, software disks, etc.)
    • Manufacturer documentation (manuals, warranty cards, registration information, etc.)

    Please note FireWire Depot does not permit the return of or offer refunds for the following products:

  • any product that is custom configured to your specifications
  • any Special Order item. Repair service is available only.
  • Opened software
  • If your returned product does not match all applicable criteria listed below, it will be rejected by our staff and returned back to you. Consequently, your RMA will be nullified and any credit request will be denied and any replacement order will be cancelled. Our arrangements with our suppliers and manufactuers allow us no room to make exceptions.

    Return may be rejected for any of the reasons below:

    Returned item improperly packaged
    Standard certification labels removed (UL listing, capacity, brand name, UPC code)
    Serial number of returned item does not match serial number of item purchased
    Item damaged, in the event that an item was damaged during shipment, please contact your shipper. We recommended that you purchase insurance for return shipments.
    Evidence of tampering (broken security seals, etc.)

    • NO returns of any type will be accepted without a RMA number. An RMA number must be obtained from our staff and is required for ALL returns. Merchandise must be returned within 15 days of the issuance of the RMA# at which time the RMA# expires. Items are not eligible for return beyond the 15 day limit and you will have to apply for a new RMA#. RMA# are non-renewable. Return shipping charges are the sole responsibility of the customer. FireWire Depot reserves the right to return any merchandise that arrives without a valid RMA# to the customer. Any product returned to FireWire Depot for any reason must show a valid RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number on the shipping box, otherwise it may be refused and returned to original shipper.
    • NOTE: All RMA merchandise should arrive at FireWire Depot freight prepaid. FireWire Depot requires that you (1) use a carrier that offers shipment tracking for all returns (All authorized returns must include a shipment tracking number) and (2) either insure your package for safe return to FireWire Depot or declare the full value of the shipment so that you are completely protected if the shipment is lost or damaged in transit. You are responsible for any loss or damage to the product during shipping. Improper packaging could result in refusal of returned merchandise. Write the RMA number clearly and prominently on the outside of the box. Please allow up to four weeks for processing.
    • DO NOT SHIP THE PRODUCT USING THE PRODUCT PACKAGING ITSELF AS THE SHIPPING BOX. The product must be properly packaged for shipping inside an outer box. Products using accessories such as cables, adapters, etc. must be returned with the product or will require a deduction for a replacement. Any product that is returned incomplete, or damaged, -- if accepted -- will require a deduction. This deduction is final.
    • Your RMA number(s) must appear clearly on the shipping label on the outside of the return shipment. Please do not mark the product box itself in any way.

  • We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages.
  • A credit to an account or issuance of a check may take up to 30 days.
  • All RMA merchandise will be repaired and returned via UPS Ground or UPS Ground COD. For RMA return to customer, FireWire Depot will pay return shipping one way to the customer only.
  • All returns will be credited the lower of either the purchase price or current product price plus a restocking fee based on the following schedule (plus any shipping charges):

    1-15 days following purchase 0-20% (based on condition of return)
    16-30 days following purchase 25-50% (based on condition of return)
    30+ days RETURNS NOT ACCEPTED

  • FireWire Depot reserves the right to replace the defective product with another unit or a product of a different brand having similar technical specifications.
  • All products are tested upon return. If found to be non-defective, an additional 15% restocking fee may apply.
  • DOA/Damaged products will be replaced or repaired at our option. This warranty does NOT COVER normal wear and tear, improper use, modified products, improper handling or accidental damage. We only replace or repair at our option.

    Please do not send us such items, as we do not issue refunds for nonqualifying items and cannot return the items to you.

    How To Request Repairs:

    E-mail the technical support department at support@fwdepot.com. We will need your original invoice number and item description when you contact us.

    Warranty

    Most products carry a one year manufacturers warranty unless otherwise specified. Warranty coverage does not extend beyond the continental US. The warranty will not apply to products that are damaged due to tampering, negligence, misuse, or abuse. Please contact support@fwdepot.com for testing procedures. FireWire Depot will not accept returns for physically damaged products, except those damaged during initial shipment to our customers and a claim must be filed with the shipping company immediately upon receipt by the customer.

    Restocking Fees

    • Cancelled orders, returns, or refusals are subject to a 15% restocking fee. There are no refunds on shipping. Order cancellations must be made within 24 hours of placing the order or you will be subject to a 20% restocking fee.
    • All returned non-defective items will have a restocking fee.
    • All returned products must be complete in manufacturers packaging with all accessories. If an incomplete product is returned, then we will assess a minimum 20% restock fee in addition to any charge imposed prior to the return.

    Late Fees

    Past due accounts bear interest at the rate of two percent (2 percent) per month or the highest amount allowed by state law, whichever is the lesser. In the event collection is necessary the customer shall be liable for all costs thereof, including reasonable attorney fees.


    If you receive something from us DOA, we will have you send it back to us and send you a new one at our cost. You must contact newsales@fwdepot.com within the 15-day warranty period. FireWire Depot will issue an RMA #. You must ship the products back to FireWire Depot in original packaging. However, if the hardware returned to us functions properly then you are responsible for the return shipping fee. For any defective problems on all external peripherals after 15 days from the invoice date, the customer will be instructed to contact the manufacturer directly for warranty replacement or repair.

    Under no circumstances shall FireWire Depot be liable for any other damages, including but not limited to special, incidental, consequential and other similar claims whether based upon breach of contract, breach of warranty, negligence, absolute or strict liability, or any other similar theories. Such excluded damages include but are not limited to: loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of data, loss of use of the hardware system, loss of use of related equipment, cost of substitute or replacement equipment, down-time, purchaser s time, injury to property, and all claims of third parties.

    FWDepot is not responsible for late or delayed shipments or system failures. Title to items being purchased is retained by FWDepot until said items are paid for by the purchaser, and title passes to purchaser at that time.

    Please be informed that your estimated arrival time is our processing time (at least 24 hours) plus the shipping time (your shipping method). This excludes weekends and holidays. Please review our shipping policies and methods, and plan your purchases accordingly.

    Freight charges for all returns will be the responsibility of the customer.
